Found this while catching up on the news today.
Most war footage shown in the US is very de-personalized, planes blowing up bridges, missiles blowing up buildings, etc. Body bags and returning wounded personnel get scant coverage. If you don’t look for the details, you might think it was all a glossy action movie, where no one gets hurt, and all the actors go home for dinner once the cameras stop. By contrast, this photo shows the very real dangers on a very personal level.

The things I noticed were:
– he is not wearing a helmet. Or body armor. Depending on the weapon shooting at him, unclear if those would help anyway, but still… a tshirt..?!?
– he is wearing a wedding ring.
This probably isn’t content for Planet Mozilla! I would make sure that you watch what you publish since it has nothing to do with Mozilla or open-source software.
[…] John O’Quinn found a picture of a soldier in Iraq today that put the fighting over there on a very personal level. […]
Please don’t add content that isn’t related to mozilla or open-source software to planet mozilla. Some find this content offensive.
P.S. Don’t remove my comment this time!
Anonymous commenters, you are both wrong here.
Mozilla’s planet (which I manage/own) is not an exclusively Mozilla news outlet. It is the voice of the Mozilla community and will regularly have non-Mozilla content. If that’s too much for you to handle, I suggest you subscribe to the Mozilla DevNews blog directly (at http://developer.mozilla.org/devnews/ ) where you can avoid having to consider that Mozilla contributors are more than just coding robots.
